For me, choosing my next destination is less about following a map and more about following a feeling. I think about the kind of experience I’m craving — whether it’s the calm of the beach, the energy of a bustling city, or the wonder of a place completely unfamiliar to me. Sometimes I’m drawn to a country I’ve dreamt about for years; other times, I stumble upon a destination while researching and feel an instant pull.

I ask myself: Will this trip inspire me? Will it teach me something new about the world — and about myself? That’s how my next adventures take shape.

This year, my travel compass is already spinning in exciting directions. Soon, I’ll be heading to Jordan to celebrate a dear friend’s wedding — a trip that will include time at the tranquil Dead Sea, where floating feels like both magic and meditation.

January is my birthday month, and I’m determined to spend it in the sun, toes in the sand, and face to the sea — my forever happy place. Right now, I’m torn between Brazil’s vibrant coastlines, the culture and color of Argentina, Mexico’s irresistible beaches, or returning to Hawaii — this time to explore Maui.

In April, I’m dreaming of Japan in full bloom, walking under pink cherry blossoms that feel like they’ve been painted just for that moment.

July is already spoken for — Peru, a trip I’ve been mapping out for months. I can almost see myself standing at Machu Picchu, a place that has lived in my imagination for years.

Each of these upcoming destinations carries its own spark of meaning for me. Brazil has been on my list for as long as I can remember — a country that feels almost like family. My love for it also comes from football; during every World Cup, my whole family and I cheer for Brazil as if we were born there. Add to that the warmth of its people, the joy of samba dancing, and endless sunny beaches, and it feels like a place made for my soul. Mexico calls to me with its closeness and perfect weather, promising vibrant days and long, golden afternoons by the sea. Japan is the dream everyone secretly has, but to see it in cherry blossom season — with petals falling like whispers — is pure magic.                                  And then there’s Peru — the place that quietly redefined how I choose my journeys. Back when I was living in Lebanon, it felt like a distant dream, but after moving to Boston, the world suddenly felt closer. Once I began researching, I fell completely in love with its history, landscapes, and culture. It’s the kind of place that makes your heart race just thinking about it — and reminds me that sometimes, the most unforgettable journeys are the ones you never thought to take.

Beyond these, I’m seeking destinations I wouldn’t normally pick — places that feel far, different, and a little unexpected. The ones that change you simply by being there.

Because in the end, choosing a destination isn’t about finding a spot on the map — it’s about finding the version of yourself who’s waiting for you there.
