Mexico City: 4-Day Guide to Culture & Cuisine

I put together this Mexico City itinerary today as I was planning a little birthday getaway for my 29th! I had been dreaming of a weekend escape, and the moment I saw the hot air balloon experience, I knew this trip had to happen.

📍 Day 1 — Roma Norte, Condesa & Chapultepec

Morning

• Explore Roma Norte / Condesa, walking leafy streets and admiring historic architecture
• Visit Biblioteca Vasconcelos early for fewer crowds and beautiful natural light 

Midday

• Head to Bosque de Chapultepec
• Walk through the park and stop to get the viral custom ring from local artisans near the entrances

Afternoon

• Visit Chapultepec Castle for panoramic city views and history
• Stop by Librería Porrúa (Chapultepec location) for books, art, and souvenirs
• Continue strolling through Chapultepec’s paths and monuments

Evening

• Sunset Walk and photos at Plaza Río de Janeiro
• Easy night back in Roma Norte or Condesa


🎈 Day 2 — Teotihuacan Hot Air Balloon Experience

Very Early Morning

• Pickup for hot air balloon ride over Teotihuacan
• Sunrise flight with views of the Pyramids of the Sun and Moon

Late Morning

• Optional guided visit of the Teotihuacan archaeological site (if included in your tour) 

Afternoon

• Return to Mexico City 
• Browse Jardín Dr. Ignacio Chávez Flea Market for vintage and local finds (Before 4 pm)

• Arrive at Grutas de Tolantongo
• Soak in the iconic cliffside thermal pools overlooking the canyon
• Explore the thermal river, caves, and tunnels
• Time to relax, swim, and take photos

Evening

• Return to Mexico City
• Light dinner and rest after a long but unforgettable day


✈️ Day 4 — Final Day: Art & Leisure

Morning
